Portland Drapery Company is the longest, continuously operated custom drapery and home goods workroom in the City of Portland. Manufacturer of custom designed window coverings, soft home goods and upholstered furnishings. Established in 1936 as Thorpe Draperies, on site manufacturing is intrinsic to our principles and aesthetics as personalized service, quality of workmanship and complete control of the finished product are our top priorities.

Owner Susan Hashem has more than 25 years experience as a designer, photography stylist and maker, beginning her career in San Francisco as a window display designer and later studying apparel design. Then, after working in the business of designing and constructing home window coverings for 14 years, she purchased Thorpe Draperies from Bill Birdsong in 2012 and continues the long legacy of quality custom design and local manufacturing under the Portland Drapery Co. banner.
